O God of love and mercy,

you are the refuge of our lives, our haven in a storm,

our shelter when all about us spins and whirls in turmoil.

When things fall apart, you are the calm centre to which we hold assured that nothing in all creation can separate us from your love.

What we know about you is beyond what we can say.

You are a God beyond all words, a Hope beyond all Wisdom.

In mysterious, hidden ways, you teach us the meaning of true strength.

You grant us a vision of the mightiest trees, whose trunks have weathered many storms.

Let us learn from them to bend and sway in fierce winds, let we crack and split and crash to earth.

Reveal to us the knowledge of when we must stand tall,and lend us the courage to know that we can.

Reveal to us the wisdom to know when we must bend,and inspire us with the passion to know that we dare.

Give us the strength to lead others to the calm centre of our lives.

There they will know a perfect love.

There they will find a perfect peace.

There they will feel a perfect hope.

Centre of our lives, centre our lives, that we might carry you to those whose lives are falling apart,

who are lost in the storms, whose lives are spinning and whirling about them.

We know that nothing can separate us from your love.

Help us help them take refuge in you.

Amen

The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
As it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
If I surrender to His Will;
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life
And supremely happy with Him
Forever and ever in the next.

Amen
